Make Money With Fiverr

Let me first tell you a bit about Fiverr before we move to the money making part.

Fiverr Business Model

Fiverr is a freelance marketplace that allows freelancers to sell their services in the form of gigs. As the name states, initially Fiverr adopted a base price of $5 which attracted service buyers with microtasks. On the other hand, it was also a very easy introductory marketplace for new freelancers who lack the necessary experience. However soon after that, Fiverr had to allow the custom price slabs as the platform was being ignored by more professional freelancers due to the extremely low price.

What is a Gig on Fiverr?

A Fiverr gig is a listing of services offered by a freelancer against a specific price. It is a pretty straightforward business model in which whenever a gig is bought, Fiverr will get its commission from the gig price upon the completion of work and the rest of the amount will be paid to the gig creator freelancer.

To give you an example, let’s say you are a designer and you can design logos. If you want to sell your services then you will need to create a Gig on Fiverr and set a fixed price in it for your logo designing services. Now it will be listed on Fiverr and when an interested buyer sees this Gig, he can buy the gig and get a logo designed by you. Once the logo is complete and approved by the gig buyer, you will be paid the gig price after the deduction of the Fiverr commission.

What is Pending Clearance in Fiverr

Once a gig is bought and completed, the buyers pays and the funds are received by Fiverr. Now Fiverr wont pay you instantly, instead they will keep they entire payment for 14 days during which you will be shown a payment status of Pending Clearance. You can also call it Fiverr payment holding period. For the Top Rated Sellers, this holding period is reduced to 7 days. Once this period is over, Fiverr with deduct its commission and send the remaining payment to the freelancers account.

Fiverr Fees for Freelancers

Fiverr deducts 20% from the total gig amount. So let’s say if your gig price was $20, Fiverr will deduct $4 and will give you the remaining $16. This fee is not limited to the gig price, if the buyer decides to send you extra money as a tip then Fiverr will deduct 20% from that trip as well. It seems a bit unfair to deduct 20% from the total earnings of a freelancer as a commission however something is better than nothing so if you are out of work then Fiverr is worth a shot.

How to Increase Your Gig Sales

Gig Thumbnail: Make sure to create a very good thumbnail for your gig to make it stand out from the gigs crowd. A good video can do even better. Your gig thumbnail is a graphical representation of your gig and the services you are selling.

Gig Description: Write a summarized but keyword-rich description for your gig. Emphasize your main keywords but don’t stuff too many keywords in it otherwise, it will look like spam.

Gig Price: Check your competition and set an attractive price for your gig. Don’t get too low or too high, staying in middle usually give better results.

Smart Plans: Your first Plan should always be cheap to attract new clients. The second plan should be for the average user and the third plan should be for professionals and businesses.

Social Marketing: Share your gig link on your social accounts to promote your sales. You can also invest a little in your gig by running ads on Facebook if you want quick results (I only recommend it if you have previous experience with other freelancing platforms such as Upwork and Freelancer)

Response Time: Your response time is shown with your gigs so always try to respond to every message as quickly as possible. This can result in a good repute which will result in more sales. Also, people usually don’t wait too much when they have decided to buy a service so there is a chance that if you don’t reply within a short time, they will buy a gig from someone else.

Finally just like any other freelancing platform, Fiverr also requires patience from you. Your first sale always takes time on every freelancing website however once a sale is done, it gives you feedback which makes the second sale easier. Remember! The more feedback you get the easier and speedy your sales become.
